Setting up codes so creators get credit

A code sale doesn't come through a link click, so your network needs to know the code belongs to GearCred. It takes one step.

Why it matters

When a shopper uses a creator's code without clicking a link, the network has no click to credit. It only knows who to pay if the code is assigned to GearCred. Until it is, code sales aren't credited to the creator.

The step for your network

  • AvantLink: assign the code to GearCred with the custom tracking code the portal shows when you approve it. That tracking code tells us which creator the sale belongs to.
  • Impact, CJ, Rakuten, Partnerize and Awin: assign the exact code to GearCred. We match code sales to the creator by the code itself.

After you approve a code, the portal shows this step with the code filled in. Tap Done once it's set up in your network.

Codes that work

  • One code per creator, so every sale has an owner.
  • Short and easy to say out loud, so it works in a video as well as a caption.
  • Not already assigned to another affiliate. A shared code credits whoever the network finds first.
  • An end date only if you mean it. Creators keep old posts up for years.
OptimizeAffiliate

On Shopify?

OptimizeAffiliate creates the Shopify discount when you approve a GearCred code and lists the network step for that code. It also flags when Shopify shows more orders with a GearCred code than the network credited, which usually means the code was never assigned.
