The Rival XPLR crankset is SRAM&';s aluminum 1x gravel platform: X-SYNC direct-mount chainring DUB Wide spindle for tire clearance and no front derailleur to trim drop a chain or knock out of alignment on a rock garden. 42T ring available in 165mm and 170mm arm lengths. Why 42T is the gravel number Paired with a modern XPLR cassette running a 10-tooth small cog a 42T ring covers the range gravel actually asks for. At the top: 42 x 10 gives you roughly the same gear as a 50T ring over a 12T cog. You&';ll spin out on a long paved descent but you&';ll hold a fast group on flat and rolling road sections without a problem.
