From Jenson USA

Shimano XT PD-M8220 Pedals Enhanced Grip, Uncompromised Confidence Shimano continues to refine the connection between rider and trail with the new Deore XT PD-M8220 pedal. Built for riders who demand control when trails get steep, loose, and unpredictable, it combines a robust SPD design with a wider contact platform, inspired by the grip pattern of Shimano's premium XTR trail pedals, to create a more stable interface between shoe and pedal, whether it's a quick dab in a rock garden or a foot out through a loose corner.
