The Shimano RC703 Men's Shoe and Ultegra PD-R8000 Pedal Package pairs two parts that already minimize stack height on their own, so together they put the foot closer to the pedal axle than either one manages alone. The RC703's low-stack midsole and the PD-R8000's 10 millimeter axle-to-cleat height aren't solving the same problem twice, they're stacking the same benefit at two different points in the connection between foot and pedal. What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I dialed in the dual zone BOA on the shoe first, then adjusted the pedal's release tension separately, and the combination felt more precise than either part alone had ever felt on a different setup."
