What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"When it’s cold and I know I won’t stop moving, these are the bottoms I pull on. They breathe better than heavier fleece, block just enough wind, and never feel restrictive when the pace picks up."Cold starts and long days in the mountains demand layers that don’t slow us down, and the R1 Thermal Bottoms are built for exactly that space. We wear them when the air is sharp and movement is constant, trusting them to hold warmth close without trapping heat when effort ramps up. They feel purpose-built for alpine mornings, frozen approaches, and exposed ridgelines where comfort is earned through motion.
