The Orvis Encounter Fly Rod Outfit answers the question that actually stops most people before their first cast which is not "which rod" but "what else do I need". Bought piece by piece a first setup is five decisions five prices and a real chance the parts do not balance each other. The Encounter Outfit is all five in one box: a four piece Encounter graphite rod in the length and line weight you choose a large arbor Encounter reel sized to that rod a Scientific Anglers weight forward floating fly line in the rod&';s own line weight backing a tapered leader and a rod and reel case that carries the whole rig as one piece of luggage.
