From Trident Fly Fishing
The Orvis 1856 Bamboo Fly Rod is a special order and that is the first thing to understand about it. We do not hold this rod in stock and neither does anyone else so buying one is a conversation rather than a click. Contact us for current availability and a lead time from Orvis before you build a season around it.What you are ordering is an 8ft 3 piece 5 weight in split cane built in the Orvis rod shop in Manchester Vermont and hand inspected by the master rod builder before it ships. Orvis is direct about the intent: the 1856 is meant to be fished not hung over a fireplace.
