From MidwayUSA

The polished knife blade is made from German carbon steel, C100S - a high-quality knife steel from the steel producer. Combined with expertise in hardening and metallurgical knowledge, results in a blade with a balanced combination of hardness, toughness, and edge retention. Please note that carbon steel is prone to rust, so it's best to wipe and oil the knife blade after use. The knife blade undergoes a rigorous manufacturing process that has been refined over 130 years at the knife factory in Mora. Morakniv's goal is to achieve the ideal balance between optimal sharpness and edge retention.
