The Mako Model 9500 Inshore Fly Reel is the smallest reel Mako builds on its saltwater platform and the entry point into the range. Mako rates it for 7 to 9 weight lines and quotes 230 to 300 yards of 50 pound braid behind a WF7 which puts it on bonefish redfish snook striped bass light permit and juvenile tarpon. Nothing is decontented to hit the size: it carries the same fully sealed carbon fiber drag the same calibrated one-turn-stop knob the same taper lock quick-change spool and the same three ball bearing spindle assembly as the 9700 bluewater reel hand assembled and individually calibrated before it ships. What it is not is a light reel.
