What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"The Grivel Ice Vario Axe Blade is the component I run as my default ice configuration across several axes in the VARIO system. The hot drop forged carbon steel holds an edge well under repeated placements in hard ice, and the geometry produces consistent penetration without requiring excessive force to seat the blade cleanly on steep terrain."A blade is only as good as what it does at the moment of placement, and the Grivel Ice Vario Axe Blade was built to perform that task with precision and consistency on technical ice and steep alpine terrain.
