From Trident Fly Fishing
The Ion like most of Echo&';s rods and reels is designed for the entry-level angler. This isn&';t the reel with the most bells and whistles or the most durable design. The Ion is however functional lightweight and efficient on the water. This reel is an especially solid option for the novice freshwater angler who doesn&';t need a sealed drag system or a ton of max drag strength. If you&';re an intermediate or expert angler I&';d consider upgrading. If you&';re just getting into the sport however this reel is a great option. Design Entry-Level Design - The Ion reel is designed for the novice angler who values affordability and functionality.
