From Trident Fly Fishing
The Echo Gecko Fly Rod is the rod for a kid who wants to fly fish now years before a 9-foot 5-weight will fit them. It comes in two short light models: the Panfish at 7&';6" for a 4-weight line and 2.35 ounces and the Trout at 7&';9" for a 5-weight and 2.65 ounces both four-piece. A rod that short puts less leverage on a small wrist keeps the tip where a young caster can see it and stays out of the brush on the walk in.What separates the Gecko from a shortened adult rod is the second grip. A short foam grip sits below the reel seat so a child who cannot hold a rod up one-handed all afternoon can drive the cast with two hands and move back to one hand as they get stronger.
