Continental Gatorskin 650c Wire Tire Keep Rolling, Whatever the Road Throws Riders on smaller-wheeled frames who still log serious miles need a training and commuting tire that holds up through glass, gravel, and road debris without leaving them on the side of the road. The Gatorskin is exactly that tire. A carbon-black tread compound prioritizes long wear and all-condition grip over outright speed, and a three-layer protection system covers both the tread and the sidewall so a sharp edge has to work hard to get through. The wire bead keeps the price of entry low and the tire firmly mounted, even at high pressure.
