The Buck 662 Alpha Scout Backcountry is a compact fixed blade hunting knife designed for controlled cutting tasks in the field without adding unnecessary bulk to a pack or belt. Its 2.875-inch drop-point blade provides a practical shape for detailed work when processing small game, working around joints, or making careful cuts on larger animals. Buck uses 420HC stainless steel for this Backcountry configuration, giving hunters a blade that balances corrosion resistance, dependable cutting performance, and straightforward field maintenance. The hollow grind supports efficient slicing, while jimping along the spine creates a defined contact area for the thumb when extra control is needed.
